Our Inspiration

Zakat al-Fitr, also known as Fitrana or Sadaqat al-Fitr, is an obligatory form of charity in Islam, given by Muslims at the end of the holy month of Ramadan, just before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. It is a way to purify one’s wealth and to help the less fortunate in the community.

The purpose of Zakat al-Fitr is to provide the needy with resources to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and to ensure that all Muslims can enjoy the festivities. It also serves as a means to cleanse any shortcomings or sins that may have been committed during the month of fasting.

Zakat al-Fitr is typically calculated as a fixed amount of staple food (such as wheat, barley, rice, or dates) or its monetary equivalent. It is obligatory for every Muslim, including children and dependents, and should be given before the Eid prayer, preferably within the last few
days of Ramadan. The head of the household is usually responsible for giving Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of all family members.

Our Process

RFN distributes food packets containing all the necessary items required to prepare Biryani on Eid day. This is one of the few days when needy families can enjoy homemade biryani.
Each packet includes the following ingredients:
● Chicken
● Rice
● Ghee
● Shan Biryani Masala
● Milk
● Sugar
● Vermicelli
